Why jump tandem?

Tandem skydiving is an excellent introduction to the thrill of completing your first (or second, or thirtieth) skydive. A tandem skydive is when you are connected to a harness which is attached to a tandem instructor wearing a parachute system. Doing a tandem skydive places 90% of the responsibility in the hands of our well trained instructors, so you can enjoy a stress-free experience. Our staff will guide you every step of the way: exiting the plane, going through freefall, piloting the canopy, and landing safely.

Is there a weight limit or any physical restrictions?

Yes, there is a weight limit to skydive. For males the absolute weight limit is 225 pounds, and for females under 6’ it is 200 pounds. These weights may not be exceeded due to gear limitations. No exceptions to weight requirements allowed.  Weight limits are set by the gear manufacturer and we adhere to all safety protocol.

Generally, you must be reasonably fit for outdoor, high adrenaline sports. Ultimately your safety is very important to us, and if we determine a harness does not fit properly due to body shape or your physical condition may lead to increased risk of injury, we may decline taking you on a skydive.

We do our best to accommodate everyone and have worked with individuals with various disabilities. If you have any disability, call us to discuss your skydiving options.

Are there age restrictions?  Are there any exceptions?

You must be 18 on the day of your jump with absolutely no exceptions. As a parent you CANNOT sign for your underage child, NO EXCEPTIONS!

If you are 65 or older on the day of your jump, we require a note from your physician stating that you are able to jump.

Without a government issued photo I.D. (Military I.D., Passport, Drivers’ License, etc.) we cannot verify your person and paperwork prior to skydiving, so we cannot put you on the plane.

What should I bring and wear?

To be able to jump, you will need to show a valid, government issued photo ID before your skydive. Your clothing should be weather appropriate and comfortable (nothing restricting your range of motion such as tight jeans). For footwear, tennis shoes are ideal. Your shoes must be closed toe, and have a secure fit so they do not fall off. Do NOT wear sandals, heels, boots with hooks, or speed laces.

Depending on your group size, you may want to bring water and snacks or a lunch with you. There are also numerous food service options about 10 minutes away in Cañon City or Florence. With an average of 300 sunny days per year, sunscreen is always recommended in Cañon City!

How do you take pictures or video of my jump?

Our instructors are highly skilled at documenting all of the excitement throughout your skydive experience! We shoot pictures and video separately (on two cameras) to ensure the highest quality images are captured utilizing hand mounted cameras. This is the most reliable and personal media production method and your entire experience is captured from the moment you walk to the plane. Examples of photos and video are available. We check the quality of every media service prior to delivering to you.

Is it safe?

Tandem skydiving has been around for over 20 years, and is recognized by the FAA as an approved aeronautical activity. However, like any extreme sport, there is risk involved. Statistically speaking, you’re more likely to be killed in an auto accident than skydiving, so the most dangerous part of your skydiving adventure is actually driving to the dropzone.

According to the United States Parachute Association, tandem skydiving has a record of one student fatality per 500,000 tandem jumps over the past decade. According to the National Safety Council, a person is much more likely to be killed getting struck by lightning or stung by a bee.

Skydive Colorado adheres to the highest safety standards when it comes to gear, the aircraft and instructor training. All of our parachute systems and aircraft are properly inspected and maintained in accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration’s FAR 105, Part 91. All of our instructors are United States Parachute Association Licensed Tandem Instructors and have completed thousands of successful skydives.

What happens if the parachute doesn’t open?

If the main parachute fails to open properly, the reserve parachute will be deployed, which
is inspected and repacked every 180 days by a Federal Aviation Association Certified Parachute Rigger.

Do you offer group rates?

Yes! Please call to inquire for availability and a price quote.

Do you have military discounts?

What altitude do we jump from?

We jump from about 14000 ft. MSL (above mean sea level).  If you look straight across the sky, we are at the level of Pikes Peak, one of Colorado’s famous 14ers.

How long is the entire experience of skydiving?

Please allow 3.5 hours for your skydive.  This allows us to do our job safely and professionally.  You will find snacks, sodas, a big hangar, cool planes, fun crowds, and at the end, the most amazing and memorable SKYDIVE!!!

What happens if I need to reschedule, or if Skydive Colorado needs to reschedule my jump.

If you need to reschedule your jump, we require at least 72 hours notice prior to your jump to reschedule. Rescheduling inside of this 72 hours is dependent on conditions, and will require a $50.00 rebook fee. If Skydive Colorado needs to reschedule your jump, it is valid for 1 year from the date of purchase.  Just pick another date when we are regularly open, and we get you in the sky!
